A.G. Alphonse – Transformative Engineer in Railways and Metro Development

A.G. Alphonse served as Deputy Chief Engineer in Indian Railways and as Vice Principal at the Bangalore Metro Training Institute during his remarkable 46-year career. In 1969, during his diploma studies, he achieved State First rank in Tamil Nadu and was awarded a Gold Medal for academic excellence.

He has authored over 10 technical articles on railway track engineering, published in the prestigious journals of the Indian Railway Institute of Civil Engineering, Pune. His exceptional work in track and bridge maintenance earned him multiple awards from both Divisional and General Managers.

Renowned for his expertise in the railways and metro sectors, Alphonse began his career at an entry-level position and rose to the highest ranks through outstanding results, innovative solutions, and impactful contributions to Indian Railways, metro projects, and other sectors he served.

Beyond his primary duties, he played an active role in public welfare programs. As Deputy Officer, he was instrumental in eminent domain cases, helping numerous families secure fair and rightful compensation.

During his tenure with the South Western Railway, he led the modernization of the railway hospital infrastructure, setting new benchmarks for quality, cost efficiency, and timely delivery.

Deeply committed to community development, Alphonse partnered with state officials to establish a miniature railway track for children in a local park—an initiative that continues to bring joy to countless families.
